In a touching and unplanned act of kindness, the Secretary to the Kogi State Government and founder of the Folashade Ayoade Initiative for Widows and Orphans (FAIWO), Dr. (Mrs.) Folashade Arike Ayoade, Ph.D, brought smiles and hope to a group of elderly widows during a recent visit to Ibadan.

While in the city for an official assignment on Sunday, Dr. Ayoade felt spiritually led to stop by a Redeemed Christian Church where a fellowship of elderly widows was taking place. Her visit came as a complete surprise to the women, who were overwhelmed by her humility and compassion, especially given that she had no prior connection to the group.
During her visit, Dr. Ayoade took time to speak to the women about the importance of giving, love, and faith, drawing inspiration from scriptures to uplift their spirits. She then went on to distribute cash gifts to every woman present—an unexpected but deeply appreciated gesture of support.

The women, moved by her generosity and sincerity, offered heartfelt prayers for Dr. Ayoade and her NGO, FAIWO, asking for God’s continued blessings and provision upon her life and work. For Dr. Ayoade, this visit was not just a moment of charity, but a reaffirmation of her core belief: that giving to those in need is a way of lending to God, and that both the giver and the receiver are blessed in the process.
Through FAIWO, Dr. Ayoade remains steadfast in her mission to bring dignity, care, and wholeness to widows, orphans, and vulnerable people—regardless of background or location. Her leadership continues to reflect the rare blend of purpose, compassion, and selfless service that sets her apart.
